Don't Miss Church on October 31

Last year on October 31, Good News UMC was challenged to RETHINKCHURCH. We caught a glimpse of the difference between just going to church and being the church through various “grace” projects around our community. For one day, we experienced how we can make a difference because of Jesus. This is the year the people of Good News go from rethinking church one day of the year to being the church all year long. This is the year we begin to make a difference in our community because of Jesus as his disciples. And it all starts October 31, 2010.

On that Sunday, everyone is invited and encouraged to begin this journey together. Throughout the Gospel, it is clear that Jesus expects those who wish to follow him to become a disciple – to bear the cross with him – to go beyond just wearing a uniform to actually getting in the game. On October 31, everyone will find out how they can do just that. The opportunities and commitments will be varied, but the reason to accept the challenge is the same for all. It is so, as Jesus said, “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.” (John 15:8) But this is not just about how to bear fruit as a church through some new “program.” It is also about how you can bear fruit as a believer in Jesus Christ as a way of life. In other words, as Christians, we are called to Grow, Give, and Serve because of Jesus. Come to church on Sunday, October 31 at 8:30 or 10:45 and together we will begin bearing the fruit that glorifies God and allows each of us to become a disciple of Jesus Christ.
